This paper solves data-based simultaneous fault detection and
control (SFDC) problem for a multivariable laboratory process named
quadruple tank process which has an adjustable zero that can be
located in both left and right half-plane. The knowledge of
mathematical model of the process is not needed and only
input/output time domain data (I/O) are used for solving a
data-based H_infinity optimization problem. Solving this
problem yields a easily implementable design algorithm for
data-driven H_infinity controller/detector unit of modest
complexity that is able to achieve some control and fault detection
objectives. The tradeoff between these objectives is established by
tuning a scalar parameter and some weighting matrices. The
effectiveness of the proposed methodology is demonstrated for both
minimum phase and non-minimum phase plants in the presence of both
incipient and abrupt faults. - References
