Abstract

This study details the development and evaluation of an intuitive smartphone application, tailored to enhance the adaptability of motorcycle riders to road conditions. The mobile application acquires and analyzes data from internal sensors, including GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, among others, and seamlessly integrates this information with an interactive map. Furthermore, the application offers a graphical interface for the rider. Utilizing Android technology, the application computes road curvature angles, which are correlated with a difficulty rating ranging from 1 to 6, in accordance with rally guidelines. These calculations are achieved through the fusion of smartphone sensor data to provide real-time riding recommendations. The experimental results confirm the advantages of utilizing the application especially for novice riders that tend to increase their riding speeds and initiate braking earlier when they possess information about the upcoming curve's difficulty level.
